Our beautiful houseboats, Saraswati and Janaki, have been designed to reflect the unique Keralan tradition and style, combined with contemporary design and elegance. Approximately 80 feet long, they are inspired by the classic kettuvellam or rice barge.

While the wooden construction in wholly traditional – no nails are used throughout - the living accommodation is light, modern and very stylish. Each boat has a double and a twin bedroom both with its own en suite bathroom, plus a spacious sitting and eating area, and an airy veranda deck on which to relax as you gently cruise along the waterways. There is also a modern kitchen where the chef prepares your daily banquets.

The bedrooms have hand-embroidered bedspreads, lotus-sculpted beds and unusually large windows. Each is also equipped with a ceiling fan, and air conditioning which is available as an option. All furniture on board is hand-made locally using Keralan timber and rattan.

Compared to many older boats in the backwaters they are extremely light and spacious, and the finish and décor are strikingly tasteful.
